How to Post a Job

Create a Hospital Account, then follow the steps listed below or check-out this graphic.

Login to your account.
To Post a Relief Job Select Jobs -> Create New, Relief.
Select the months -> Continue.
Select the dates in the calendar matrix -> Continue.
Enter the shifts.
Make any changes to your account or the job.
Submit Job.

To Post a Permanent Job, Select Jobs -> Create New, Permanent.
Enter a start date -> Continue.
Check the days of the week and enter shift information.
Click Contine button; Job has been created and posted
Next click Edit Job Description button; add your descriptive and compelling comments.
Click Save.
Click Preview button to view how your job appears to doctors.
Click the hyerlink text "Go back to view current permanent jobs" to view any other permanent jobs that you may have posted.

How to Respond to a Bid from a Doctor?

Login to your Hospital's Account. The doctor's bid should be displayed on your home page. Click on the doctor's bid. In order to reply to their bid Create and Post your response as a Bid Memo. Below we've listed some responses you might consider. Please elaborate on your reply. You may be as brief or as descriptive as you feel is necessary.

Accept this bid.
Accept some but not all of these bid dates.
Propose a counter-offer to this bid.
Schedule a telephone and/or onsite interview.
Bid is still under consideration.
Decline this bid and continue the search for another candidate.
Decline this bid - plans have changed - no longer need a relief veterinarian.

Are Doctors' references provided to the hospitals to assist their hiring decisions?

The doctors have included their references into their online profile. In addition VetRelief.com provides you access to the contact information for as many as five of a doctor's most recent referrals specifically through VetRelief.com. Does VetRelief screen the Vets?

On request, we are able to search the database in order to provide you with relevant feedback that we may have on file.
As a suggestion it may be helpful to discuss with the candidate(s) a list of criteria based upon your expectations and past experiences. You may quiz each candidate to your satisfaction prior to accepting their bids. There is no charge unitl you both agree to hire. You are not obligated to accept anyone, and the candidates are not obligated either. Once both parties agree do we confirm the service relationship. Also be certain to discuss and define your employment relationship between yourselves. VetRelief.com has no involvement in the terms or definition of your employment relationship.

What are your terms and fees when our hospital hires a relief veterinarian?

When should the hospital pay VetRelief.com?

An invoice for our service fee will be sent to you AFTER the veterinarian works.

What do you suggest if after the first day we do not want the relief doctor back?

Relief Doctors turn down offered work to uphold their commitment to your hospital. To be fair you should assume some of the risk if they are unable to recapture lost work dates. Consider this: confirm them for a trial day or two. Make it clear that you would like to hire them for additional dates provided that the trial dates goes as expected. There may be a risk though, that is the Relief Doctor may receive and accept an offer for work elsewhere during the trial interim.

How does a hospital Accept Bids?

Login to your hospital's account. All the bids will be displayed. Click on the doctors' bids then post them a bid memo accepting their bids. Check out this graphic on how to respond to a doctor's bid.

Are the relief doctors who bid on my job licensed to practice in my state?

Yes, the relief doctors that bid on your job claim to be licensed in your state. Likewise the web site is programmed to only display Jobs to veterinarians with state location compatible licenses. In addition the web site provides you a link to the state authority to check a doctor's license too.

Why hire a relief doctor for my hospital when I prefer to hire an associate?

There are several ways to attract an associate veterinarian. In answer to your question though consider this: there are more doctor-candidates searching for relief work. However relief work is key for meaningful introductions to employable veterinarians. When you accepted the veterinarian's bid, the relief doctor was notified to reaffirm his/her acceptance.

If I hire a relief veterinarian and then our vacation plans are disrupted, may I cancel the doctor?

Our hospital received a bid at the last minute. Are we obligated to accept this bid? Do we owe VetRelief for finding someone?

You are not obligated to accept the bid. You do not incur a charge from VetRelief until you hire someone. Consequently, there would be no charge.

How much do you charge when my hospital hires a relief veterinarian? How much do you charge when my hospital hires the relief veterinarian as an associate?

Our service fee for either arrangement is the same. In addition our service fee is accrued regardless of mediating conditions like which party instigated the arrangement, the terms of hire or employment, if there was a prior existing relationship between you, or even if they buy your practice or an equity relationship ensues.

Our Clinic accepted a doctor's bid but can not find the bid.

Our hospital received a bid from a doctor who has worked here before. We don't want to hire them again.

Reply to their bid with a simple 'no thank you'. Following that you may mismatch them to your hospital. A mismatch prevents them from viewing any future jobs you post.

Do you have any veterinarians in my area?

Probably, but in order to increase the number of candidates willing to work in your area, we recommend that you post a relief job and a permanent one.

How to attract more bids to a hospital's relief job?

If accommodations are available offer them. Maintain your contacts to call if you prefer not to pay our service fee. Once our resources locate candidates for you to hire, we have supplied a service for which we expect to be paid when you hire our referral regardless of a previous relationship.
